Who We Are

2 Denarii Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping persons, age 19 and over, recover from Substance Abuse Disorder (primarily addiction to alcohol and drugs). 2 Denarii Society (formerly Alcare Place) opened in the heart of Halifax, NS in 1987 and since that time we have become a leader in the community with a client-centered, holistic approach to recovery from addiction.

Currently we run a 6-week daytime addiction recovery program in Dartmouth.

2 Denarii Society is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors and is staffed by a diverse and qualified team dedicated to helping our clients in their recovery journey.

Our 6-week daytime addiction recovery program provides a safe, stable and supportive environment for our co-ed clients where they are able to focus their energy towards change, healing and growth. We can accommodate a max of 12 clients who participate in a carefully designed addiction recovery program. This includes subject matter such as holistic approaches to healing and recovery, Relapse Prevention, Anger Management, One-on-one Counselling, as well as an introduction to Alcoholics Anonymous & Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

In our many years of operating a recovery house and now a 6-week day time program, the one lesson that rings true is that our impact extends well beyond helping one person take back their life. We return our clients back to their spouses/partners, parents to their children, siblings to their families, skilled workers to their communities; and the benefits of recovery ripple outward over years touching countless lives.
